Review & Evaluation of Fast Track Teaching Programme...

Shire Professional have been commissioned by the Department for Education and skills (DfES) to conduct a 5 year evaluation of the Fast Track programme, which started in May 2003.

The work involved interviews with 84 Fast Track teachers, 120 of their heads and mentors as well as teacher training providers, Personal Leadership Tutors and policy makers. This was followed up with an annual survey of all Fast Track teachers and trainees, and the same survey was carried out with 4 other fast streams in the public and private sector for benchmarking purposes.  We have recently completed a 360 –degree assessment (multi-rater) with samples of Fast Track teachers and comparison groups of non Fast Track teachers in the same schools.  The 360 process wil be repeated in 2006 and 2008 .

The first interim evaluation and review report was delivered to DfES on 1st April 2004, the benchmarking report on May 5th 2004 and and an abridged version of the evaluation report on June 4th 2004.
